Training:
Instructor Certification

There is much need for instructors. Our hope is that this will provide some standardization so new students (and experienced pilots) will have a common gauge to start with when seeking instruction.

We strive to support the instructor community by encouraging thorough training which can only help preserve the freedom we enjoy under FAR 103. This freedom carries significant responsibilities to continue using the airspace system.

Instructors are able to administer the ratings of USPPA PPG1 through PPG3 as described on the appropriate ratings page. Instructor Administrators are authorized to grant the instructor ratings.

An instructor who is authorized to administer the ratings will be so listed on the schools page. Instructor administrators can give instructor ratings and are listed below. Requirements for an instructor applicant are listed in the ratings PDF file and include a clinic. The process for a PPG3 rated pilot to become an instructor is to contact an existing USPPA instructor administrator and ask to do a clinic. Once complete you will be able to apply.

If you are a USHGA, Instructor pilot wanting to obtain the USPPA Instructor Rating please send your request to theUSPPA@gmail.com stating your name, phone number, address and organizational number. Your request will be forwarded to the geographically closest training committee member for processing. There is no need to travel and the details are listed below. You may also choose which instructor administrator you would like to work with.

Grand fathering Instructors

We recognize the accomplishments obtained through other organizations and so have provided a means for existing instructors to certify under USPPA.

  1. Be a full~ or higher member of USPPA in good standing. The certification is only in effect while the membership is in effect.
  2. Have all the flight experience listed for a USPPA instructor.
  3. Pass the PPG3 written test.
  4. Pass the USPPA Instructor written test.
  5. Submit an application with signed liability release and commitment. The commitment lists instructor expectations and asks that when giving USPPA training the applicant will adhere to the minimum training standards. Instructors are, of course, free to give training outside of the program but if a student is getting a USPPA rating then this applies.

Submit this information to a USPPA Instructor Administrator as listed below.
