Ready to Buy Powered Paragliding Gear?

Some thougghts to help you succeed at this incredible endeavor

So you've decided to take the plunge?

Good for you. It's a remarkable way to fly and much of the fun can be in learning. But the most important word of advice we have is: choose an instructor!

Your single best path to success is thorough instruction from a school that will support you through the entire process. If you get off to a good start, then you will likely continue. There are many, many unused paramotors languishing in garages because pilots bought gear, and either skimped on instruction or took a 3-day wonder course that left them woefully unprepared to fly. Good pilots make it look easy and, with proper training, it really is easy. But without good training, the experience can be a nightmare.

What we've found is that buying a particular motor or wing is nowhere near as important as finding competent instruction that goes through the entire USPPA syllabus and provides service both in continued education and equipment support.

Almost as important is that, by supporting a school with your purchase, you help insure they are around to continue supporting you with training, advice, parts, etc.

Lastly, there is great value in using gear that the school is familiar with. If you buy something on E-Bay, for example, without your instructor's knowledge, you could very well wind up with a difficult-to-learn setup that the instructor is also not familiar with--a terrible combination.

If you ever hear someone telling you that their gear is the end-all of the sport, you are being bamboozled. Don't drink the Cool Aid. It's not about the gear, it's about the training and support.

Choose a good school, buy from them, and you will likely be far more successful while ending up with some new friends for life.

Enjoy!
