Muffler Repair (Top 80)

by Gary Brown

12/02/2005

Gary tells us that some long-delayed efforts to bring his Top-80 back to life has yielded success. Of course you must know how to weld but, meeting that, requirement, this may help  your old muffler back in business.

The internal baffles, which had a notorious problem of rattling internal parts loose (as evidenced by photo #2), has been cut into then re-welded. Finally, the whole thing was re-welded. Gary says that all he has to do now (all?) is  repaint it, fabricate a new flange (for attachment to the cylinder head) and replace one of the mounting bolts.
