In
Memory
While our sport is likely the safest means to get airborne, the sad reality
is that we occasionally lose a friend in flight. Most of the time, we lose
our friends to other other causes.
Our passion for this unusual means aloft ties us together and makes such
losses particularly painful. These tributes are devoted to those who have made their
way into the hearts of their fellow fliers and offers a place for friends to
comment. Thanks to those who have.
John
Broda Passes Away
Feb 20, 2006
Longtime paramotor pilot
John Broda, Age 65, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away last week after a 3
month battle with bladder cancer. John is survived by his wife Carol, his son Mark and Sharon Broda (and
grandchild) in Baltimore, and his son David and his fiancé's Jessica in Jacksonville. John was in the US Navy in the 60s. He worked and retired
from Sears as a Service Technician.
Cards may be sent to his
wife, Carol Broda at 12765 Hidden Court, Jacksonville, Florida 32225.
Friend Butch Hensel
shared this with us: "He was a great man. I really enjoyed visiting John. We would play
horseshoes in the morning, then go to the RC field and he would fly his RC airplanes. We would have lunch and then head to the beach where John would
fly his paraglide. Then back home to take the wives out for dinner, a movie, or bowling even miniature golf.
In Feb 2005 we went on a cruise from Tampa to Mexico and back with John his wife Carol, and John's cousin Ted Broda and his wife Dee. We all planned
to go again on 25 Feb 2006, but Teddy was diagnosed with Lung cancer in October and is not doing well. John was diagnosed with Bladder cancer in
December."
