Coming Events

Send news to theUSPPA@gmail.com | For events past.

If you would like your event listed please send it to USPPAevents@gmail.com with event name, dates, and a Google readable address (coordinates work well). Events can be anything open to the general public that would be of interest to North American paramotor pilots including international, local meetings and others.

Events still listed below the calendar are those which have run annually but have not yet set dates. Once an event's date has either passed or is confirmed and entered into the calendar, it will be removed from this list. Old events will remain on the calendar for easy copying if the event runs again the following year.

One new requirement: limit words to 200. There is a bug in Google's display that prevents buttons from displaying properly when events have too much text. When Google fixes that bug, we'll remove the limit.

Lastly, to see a list of all events from the currently displayed month onward, click on "Agenda" at the calendar's far right.

Thanks for your submissions and enjoy!

2009-Dec-30 We apologize to those who subscribed and found their calendar did not work. We had to make a change so that it properly uses the "USPPAevents" gmail account. Resubscribing to USPPAevents@gmail.com will restore events.

Kankakee, IL   Cost: donation for food is fine

It's the biggest Midwest Ultralight Fly-in outside of Oshkosh. Lance Marczak is the PPG Coordinator for this 4th Annual event held by Jim Leon.

We had pilots from as far as Panama last year and welcome them all again. Besides paramotors, there will be PPC's, Trikes, gyrocopters, Sport Pilot aircraft and and other Ultralights.

Pilots are welcome to arrive early and fly on other days before and after as long as you get a briefing. This is a General Aviation airport (no control tower, though) so it's important to know where the few no-fly zones are lest we jeopardize our welcome.

The variety of aircraft that wander through this event make mid-day entertainment easy.

Camping on the field is allowed and hotels are nearby. For more information visit theUltralightPlace or contact Lance Marczak at 815-791-8631 or Jim Leon at 815-529-3000.

(tentative) 2010-July-xx Hank's Place

Fri 07/?? - Sun 07/??/2010
McArthur, CA  Cost: Donation

Come join fellow paraglider nuts, both powered and unpowered, at Hanks Place. There is plenty of room for dry camping (tent or RVs) with water (for refilling) and a double Porta Potty. Free flyers will love Hat Ridge, only 20 minutes away, with its great glass-off soaring.

Saturday holds the famous Bar B Que. They plan on having a GPS treasurer hunt so bring your navigators. There will be some kind of spot landing and carrier landing competitions, too. Bring the kids for the marshmallow roast Saturday after dark.

Hank's house is the 2nd drive on the right just past Day Road about 6.5-7 miles east of McArthur. Coordinates of the field and campsite below Hank's house are N 41⁰ 5’ 9” and W 121⁰ 18’ 20”

This beautiful site is just East of McArthur, CA in the Fall River Valley which is east of Redding. There's motoring morning/evening along the Pit and/or Fall Rivers in sight of Mt. Shasta to the north and Mt. Lassen to the south ... or just catch the lift on the ridge behind Hank's and sky out to 8,000+! The evening glass off at Hat Creek Rim is only 20 minutes away for those that prefer a unique motor-free flying experience and our own Greg Petersen lives right next to the Rim.

There are also trip extensions following the Fly In for whomever is so inclined to: (1) Cedarville (on the east side of the Warner Mts), (2) Lakeview OR (motor and/or free-flying), and (3) Spanish Springs Guest Ranch on the way home, down along 395S (with adjacent Ravendale Airport for morning/evening flying). Ropin' and ridin' during the day for the cowboys/girls among us. Both Cedarville and Lakeview also have some pretty neat hot springs... for soaking those aching joints while para-waiting.

This is a Sodflyers' annual event and we'd love to see any and all pilots come experience the BIG AIR of Northern CA ... ok, and Oregon too!

For more information, E-Mail Ed Summers using theknoll@frontiernet.net.

(tentative) 2010-Sept-xx Beach Run Fly-In

Sat 09/19 -  Sun 09/20/2009
Holland, MI  Cost: $ Donations

All Pilots are invited to the third sponsored PPG event at Park Township Airport. This wonderful PPG friendly facility is only 2 miles from the expansive sugar-sand beaches of Lake Michigan. The huge manicured launch area and nearby Lake Michigan shoreline will make this a memorable PPG experience. Rest rooms are available, but no shower (sorry). A bar of soap and a refreshing Lake Michigan dip would be memorable Sept experience.

Free camping and 100LL (not free) is available right on the airport grounds. Motels, shopping, and food near by; for more area info go to http://www.park-township-airport.com. The Airport is located at 1269 Ottawa Beach Rd, Holland, MI 49424.

There is no fee to attend this event, but donations will be cheerfully accepted and will be directed to support the airport maintenance fund. This is an unstructured event where the beach is the star of the show. Also the Airport is right next to the paved bike trail ending 2 miles to the west at the best beach on Lake Michigan. It is likely that we will be serving up grill food for Saturday lunch.

This year a few new rules came down from the Township and airport management, these will be discussed in a hand-out on-site. One rule that needs be pointed out in advance is that pets are not permitted on airport grounds (you’ll need to find a sitter for the pooch).

Early arrivals are OK. Men are advised that, if the weather turns out bad, you can always hit the nearby outlet mall with the Mrs. For more information contact Terry Lutke at 616-262-9895.

(tentative) 2010-Sept-xx Scott's Place

Fri 09/11 -  Mon 09/14/2009
Jonesboro, Arkansas   Cost: $0

Scotts Place is a brand new, user-friendly facility dedicated to PPG and PPC flyers. They feel that many pilots in the surrounding area would consider Jonesboro a central location. They say "We also feel the pilots would like to have a few regular recurring informal fly-ins each year and also have a place that would be available on an "Always Open" basis for any special event that may present itself. Or a place that on the spur of the moment, from 4 pilots to 400 pilots who just want to go do their thing in the sky, have a facility to do so. Our ambition is to be such a place."

"There is always On-Site camping, RV's, campers, whatever, and 1-4 star hotels are only a 5 to10 minute drive from the site. Restaurants, shopping and such are all around, again within minutes. No power or RV hookups however. Porta potties on site for meets and fly ins. If you have any special needs, let us know. We will reasonably do what we can to provide those needs. Come as early as you wish and stay as long as you wish. This is an always open, always welcome facility."

"If you are equipment dealers, schools, instructors or other wise have legit related stuff for sale, bring it on. You can set it up where ever you like on site, or get together with others and put it all in a central location. Up to you."

"We have an idea of who is around, but it is just a guess. We really do not know if a local radius is considered 100 miles or 1000 miles or more. That depends on the individual. Help us by responding. We have made it pretty easy and simple. Just go here, and do two things. Respond to our inquiry (really simple and quick) and enter your name on the List of who is coming for the September Fly In if you think you may come. That’s all. Thank you."

For more info, contact Scott using 870-243-2746 or email ssfly@prodigy.net. Or Stan at 870-219-4799, and crawford_nats@yahoo.com.

(tentative) 2010-Oct-xx Boucher Field Pig Roast & Fly-In

ATVs welcome. Plenty of riding on the Boucher property and endless trails in the surrounding forest property. Note: no motor vehicles are allowed on forest property. Humm.

Fish fry on Friday evening, Pig (pork) roast potluck on Saturday.

Now a little History.

Back in the late 80’s A couple of Bouchers purchased this 70 acre farm sight, boarded on two sides by the Shawnee national forest, and located about ˝ mile from beautiful Lake Kincaid. At this time we were in our heyday of the fixed wing ultralight aircraft craze, so we immediately constructed a 900 foot runway to launch our machines. From this point, for the next several years we explored by air, the diverse and varied landscapes of southern Illinois.

About six miles to the southwest runs the Mississippi river to which we made several trips landing on the large and ever changing sandbars. Even closer lies the Mississippi river valley which stretches 50 miles south to the Ohio River. Bald Knob Cross, located about 15 miles southwest was an interesting trip, and the large strip mine operations about 5 miles north offered some very different scenery. Pinckneyville airport is located about 5 miles north of the strip mines. This airport was our home base until the recent Sport Pilot ruling took effect, and is now nearly ultralight free, but it‘s a great place to launch PPG‘s.

For More Information contact Kenny Carlock at e004kc@yahoo.com or Tom Boucher at bontom99@comcast.net.
