The Parastars have a great event to
showcase our sport! They are
trying to make it a more spectator friendly affair with layout, activities and
promotion. Thank you for your participation in making this event both a great
place to fly and a great way to show your wares to the community and public.
The press
release that has been sent out to various news organizations is included
below. Additional releases will be made as the event nears. We will be marketing
this event to the local and national media in a bid to increase our sports
exposure.

FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Foot launched fliers mass launch and compete from central
Florida
air Museum.
SARASOTA, FL, Feb 19, 2004
. Foot flyers around the country will flock to Polk City, FL
on Easter weekend for flying, fun and a mass launch. Renowned aviation
museum Fantasy of Flight, about an hour West of Orlando, is hosting the
Parastars 2004
World Powered Paragliding Convention on April 9, 10 and 11.
A paramotor pilot runs
into the air with a motor strapped to his back using a parachute-style wing for
lift. This is also called powered paragliding.
Some of the best pilots
from around the world will gather for fun flying as well as watching the
extreme side of our sport. A competition demonstration will also be done where pilots carve up to 70 degree bank turns just a few feet off the
ground. Afterwards they shut the motor off and attempt to land on a 1 foot
square.
Aaerobatics
demonstrations will be flown, clinics given and vendors will show off the latest
in paramotor gear.
This event was started four years ago by the
Tampa
based Parastars club and grew into the largest gathering of paramotor pilots in
the country. Last year, the colorful “mass launch” netted a place in the
Guinness Book of World Records with an official count of 75 craft and 78 humans.
Paramotor instructor Eric Dufour will again organize this year’s attempt at
besting that number.
Free clinics will be given
by leaders in the sport to explain or demonstrate everything from ultralight
rules to carburetor tuning. A catered banquet caps off Saturday’s mass
ascension with a brief awards ceremony and giving out of raffle prizes.
Admission is free for
spectators and includes a program with information about the sport. There is a charge to fly
or camp in the event and to attend
Saturday’s banquet, more information is available at www.Parastars.com
or www.USPPA.org.
