U. S. Team To 2009 World Air Games

A Chance to Compete On The World Stage | 2009-June-15 Final Results Posted

June 1, 2009 The top three ranked U.S. pilots will head for Italy in the next two days to represent our country in for the first time in an international paramotor competition. Stan Kasica of New Britain, CT, Chad Bastian of Ojai, California, and Jeff Goin of Naperville, IL were among the top 22 pilots selected worldwide to represent their countries in this internationally recognized event. Chad Bastian may have updates on his website TrikeBuggy.com and Jeff Goin may have updates on his FootFlyer.com.

Jan 23, 2009 The Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI), which has served as the world governing body for air sports and aeronautical world records since 1905, has invited five American powered paraglider (PPG) pilots to represent the United States of America in the prestigious World Air Games this summer in Torino, Italy. The competitions are slated to begin on June 6.

The World Air Games (WAG) are held every four years and are largely regarded as the Olympics of Air Sports. The Games are comprised of multi-discipline events featuring up to 10 air sports and up to 22 different events. Flying machines from unlimited aerobatic aircraft to ultralights will compete in this “sport of a third dimension,” all vying to become World Air Games Champs.

According to the FAI, “Only the best of the best are invited to compete in the World Air Games.”
Pilots were selected by virtue of their performance in eight different powered paraglider qualifying events held world-wide in 2008. Only the top 22 pilots and provisional alternates receive the coveted invitations and will represent 11 different countries.

In a field that is comprised of several European Champions and World Record holders, the U. S. is well represented by Jeff Goin as the 2008 National Champion; Stan Kasica, the 2007 National Champion; and Chad Bastain, who is already a veteran competitor to the 2001 WAG as a paraglider pilot. The U.S. team is rounded out with alternates Greg Hagg, a former member of the military “Golden Knight” jump team, and Dave Fore, who pushed to the edge and crashed in the first round of the qualifying event, only to regroup and fly a tremendous second round, earning an opportunity as a team member to proudly represent the USA.

If you would like to support the U. S. team of powered paraglider pilots, your tax deductible contribution would be greatly appreciated as we proudly step onto the world stage for the very first time.
