2008 WAG Qualifier & USPPA Competition

USPPA competition and FAI Qualifier for World Air Games July 25 - 27, 2008 | Rules Followed

Go to the 2008 National Rankings to see the world pilot standings.

The 2008 Powered Paragliding Competition is complete and its results posted. This established the national U.S. champion and also, for the first time, pitted U.S. pilots with others flying the same tasks elsewhere around the world. These results will be tabulated and the top pilots invited to Turin Italy to show the world what powered paragliding has to offer as a spectator sport.

According to Roy Beisswinger and David Rogers, most of the results from other countries have been tabulated and it appears the U.S. made a good showing. We currently hold the Number 3 and 4 spot with others in the top 10. You can see the results for the 2008 U.S. Competition here. When the world qualifier standings are posted, they will be included here.

This is done in conjunction with the USUA, NAA (as a representative of the FAI) and USPPA.

Unlike prior events, this competition focuses on precision flying tasks that will all be within sight of spectators. Roy Beisswinger will be running it along with Kenny Carlock, Dave Rogers and others who have volunteered

The competitors and judges.
Location: Greenville Airport (KGRE).

The competition was a valid meet for both the World Air Games Qualifier and USPPA competition. No NAA Sporting License was required.

Pilots competed with their peers around the world but also for the status as U.S. National Champion.

Commentary and explanations have been done at www.FootFlyer.com, including diagrams.

Pilots may enter from any other country and be qualified for the 2009 Turin games.

Thank you for your participation!
